Victorian Gold Hair Memorial Brooch This beautiful brooch has been exquisitely created by a Victorian master craftsman showcasing his fine artistry. It is an intensely personal piece dedicated to the memory of a father and son and contains hair from both men. The front of the brooch features an oval glass bezel containing coiled brown hair, seed pearls and curled gold thread creating a floral design. To the reverse the brooch has a glass compartment containing curled hair on a woven background and is fitted with a steel pin and hook closure. It is framed by an elegant scrolled gold border and is in very good condition. It is engraved with the names Samuel Steane, Obt 10 Oct0ber 1848 age 48 and Samuel W. Steane Obt 25 March 1859 age 23. Samuel senior was a wine merchant in Oxfordshire. Gross Weight: 29.1gm. Tested as 9ct gold.
